Accidental Vienna House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at approximately 8:45 a.m., in the Vienna area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 10203 Lawyers Road.

Firefighters encountered smoke and fire from the first floor of the two-story home upon arrival. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. The fire originated in the basement and was gas fed. Two adults and three children have been displaced. Red Cross is assisting the family. One firefighter was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A smoke alarm was present and activated.

Damage is estimated at $110,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Either a malfunctioning water heater or combustibles too close to the water heater caused the fire.
