Merrifield Warehouse Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a commercial fire at approximately 8:05 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2007, in the Merrifield area of Fairfax County. The commercial warehouse is located at 2721 Dorr Avenue.

Firefighters reported fire in a rack storage area near the ceiling. The fire was extinguished by a combination of sprinklers and firefighters. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. There were no reported injuries.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The cause of the fire was a ceiling heater too close to combustibles.
