Accidental West Centreville Townhouse Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at approximately 7:20 p.m. in the Centreville area of Fairfax County. The townhouse is located at 14880 Lambeth Square.

Firefighters encountered fire from the front of the three-story townhouse upon arrival. Fire originated in the basement and extended to several floors of the end unit townhouse. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. Five adults have been displaced. Red Cross responded, however, was not needed. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $60,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An electric heater too close to combustibles in a bedroom caused the fire.
