Fox Mill House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 6:10 p.m., Friday, February 29, 2008, in the Fox Mill area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 12507 Chasbarb Terrace.

Firefighters encountered fire and smoke showing from the rear and one side of the home upon arrival. The fire extended to the second level of the two-story home. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 35 minutes. The family of six, two adults and four children have been displaced. Red Cross is assisting. There were no injuries.

Damages are estimated at $150,000.

According fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Improper disposal of fireplace ashes on the rear deck caused the fire.
