Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a fatal house fire Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at approximately 1:20 a.m., in the Pohick area of Fairfax County. The single-family house is located at 8009 Flint Street.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke from the front of the one-story home upon arrival. An additional alarm was requested bringing over 60 emergency personnel to the scene. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes.
During their primary search, firefighters found Billy Lee Clark, 48, deceased near a rear door in a living room. There was no one else home when the fire broke out.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
The fire is under investigation. An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.
