McLean House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Friday, March 7, 2008, at approximately 2:50 a.m., in the McLean area of Fairfax County. The single-family house is located at 1613 Maddux Lane.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire in the basement and first floor, and smoke throughout the two–story home upon arrival. An additional alarm was requested bringing over 60 emergency personnel to the scene. As firefighters were attempting to extinguish the fire, a section of the first floor collapsed. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately two hours. The house was vacant and under renovation at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries.

The home was destroyed. Loss is estimated at $995,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
