Springfield House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 12:20 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2008, in the Springfield area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 7209 Neuman Street.

Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the front, rear, and sides of the home upon arrival. A second alarm was struck, bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene. The fire originated in a bedroom on the first floor. One adult male has been displaced. Red Cross was not needed. One firefighter was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Damage is estimated at $75,000.

The fire is under investigation.
