Falls Church House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 6 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2009, in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County. The home is located at 7100 Oakland Avenue.

Firefighters encountered fire to an attached carport, extending to the second floor and attic of the two-story, single-family home upon arrival. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes. The fire originated on the attached carport and extended into the home. There were no injuries. Fourteen residents have been displaced, nine adults and five juveniles.

Damage is estimated at $150,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
