Two Charged With Setting Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged Sohail Cheema, 40, and Muhammad Afzal, 41, of the 5200 block of Kestrel Crossing Drive, in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County with carelessly damaging property by fire (Class 4 Misdemeanor, Virginia Code 18.2-88), April 14, 2009.

The charges are in connection with a house fire at 5271 Canard Street. Combustible materials were set on fire inside an abandoned house.

There was minor damage to the structure.  There were no injuries.

Both have been released, pending a court hearing.
