Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Friday, April 17, 2009, at approximately 4:50 p.m. in the Annandale area of Fairfax County. The home is located at 5029 Linette Lane.
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the rear of the single-family home upon arrival. Firefighters saw fire coming from the deck area with extensive fire extension into the attic and inside the two-story home. Firefighters also encountered nearby live power lines while fighting the fire from the exterior. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes. Two adults and a juvenile have been displaced. Red Cross was not needed. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was intentionally set. Investigators charged three male juveniles with one count each of burning personal property greater than $200, (Class 4 Felony, Virginia Code 18.2-81); and setting a fire capable of spreading, (Class 6 Felony, Virginia Code 18.2-86). The fire originated on or near the wooden deck.
