Woman Charged With Setting a Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged Janelle Edgar, 53, of 1825 Kirby Road, McLean, Virginia, for setting a fire on Tuesday, May 19, 2009.

Edgar was charged with burning or destroying personal property (Virginia Code 18.2-77), burning or destroying personal property valued greater than $200 (Class 4 Felony, Virginia Code 18.2-81), and setting a fire capable of spreading (Class 6 Felony, Virginia Code 18.2-86). The charges are in connection with the house fire on May 19, 2009, at 1825 Kirby Road, in the McLean area of Fairfax County. Ignitable liquids were set on fire outside the structure. The fire damaged the rear wooden deck. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $1,000.

Edgar is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
