Lorton Garage Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a detached garage fire at approximately 12:40 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in the Lorton area. The garage is located at 9000 Jameson Street.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke from a detached residential single-vehicle garage upon arrival. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. The fire destroyed the garage and three vehicles. One vehicle was inside the garage, and two other vehicles nearby, including a recreational vehicle. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $85,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An extension cord caused the fire.
