Burke House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Friday, July 17, 2009, at approximately 3:45 p.m., in the Burke area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 8914 Bald Hill Place.

Firefighters encountered smoke coming from the two-story home upon arrival. The fire was contained to one bedroom with minor fire extension in the two-story home. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. Eleven occupants have been displaced, two adults and nine children.  Red Cross was not needed. The occupants escaped unharmed. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $160,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Malfunctioning electrical wiring caused the fire.
