Lorton House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Thursday, September 3, 2009, at approximately 7 p.m., in the Lorton area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 9908 East Hill Drive.

Firefighters encountered smoke coming from the side and rear of the two-story single-family home upon arrival. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. Three adults have been displaced from the home where the fire started. Red Cross was not needed. No one was home when the fire broke out. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The fire originated in an oven located in the kitchen.
