Groveton House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at approximately 10:20 a.m. in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 3506 Groveton Street.

Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the front of the ranch-style home upon arrival. Firefighters quickly located and extinguished the fire in the master bedroom, adjacent bedrooms, and to the exterior of the structure. No one was home when the fire broke out. Two adults have been displaced. Red Cross was not necessary. Smoke alarms were present and activated by the fire.

Damage is estimated at $200,000.

The fire is under investigation.
