Fairfax County Firefighters, in cooperation with the Coats for Kids Foundation, Progressive Firefighters of Fairfax County, Inc., and the Fairfax County Professional Firefighters and Paramedics, will collect and distribute new winter coats for children and youths through high school age, Thursday, November 12, 2009, 10 a.m., at Penn Daw Fire and Rescue Station 11, 6624 Hulvey Terrace, Alexandria, Virginia.
Through generous support and donations from organizations and businesses, it is anticipated that approximately 1,000 youths and their families will benefit. This is the fourth year firefighters and the department has sponsored this community event.
The department will coordinate distribution with Fairfax County Public Schools, the City of Alexandria Public Schools, the Department of Family Services, and local shelters to reach a record number of youths this year.
