Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Monday, December 21, 2009, at approximately 6:50 a.m. in the Centreville area of Cub Run Stream Valley Park. The single family home is located at 15183 Wetherburn Drive.
Firefighters encountered a large amount of fire coming from the attached garage in the front of the home upon arrival. Firefighters advanced a hoseline inside the first floor of the two-story home and brought the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes. The Incident Commander struck a second alarm, bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the entire home. The fire did extend to the second floor and attic area.
Nearby neighbors driving nearby saw the fire and called 911 and then stopped and helped search for any occupants inside prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. No one was home when the fire broke out. Two adults will be displaced. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.
The fire is under investigation.
