Condominium Fire Intentionally Set

 Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged Lavina Herbert, 38, 3853 Tiburon Place, Alexandria, with the burning of an occupied building, (Virginia Code 18.2-77), and animal cruelty (Virginia Code 3.2-6570), Saturday, March 26, 2011.

The charges are in connection to a condominium fire at 3853 Tiburon Place in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County, at approximately 4:35 p.m., March 25, 2011. A canine perished in the fire, and displaced four adults. Fire damage was primarily contained to the top floor of the unit. 

The fire caused an estimated $35,000 in damage. There were no other injuries.
