Accidental Herndon Commercial Building Fire
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a commercial structure fire, Sunday, June 26, 2011, at approximately 10:05 a.m., in the Town of Herndon. The commercial building, the Aaoji Indian restaurant, is located at 724 Pine Street.
Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the building upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an interior attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes. The fire originated in the kitchen area. Firefighters conducted extensive overhaul operations in the kitchen and ceiling. The restaurant will be closed until adequate repairs are completed. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $150,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Intense heat transfer from a natural gas cooking appliance to the subfloor caused the fire.
