News Release 11-101
Date: December 14, 2011
Partnering with private corporations and local businesses, Fairfax County firefighters and paramedics are sponsoring the 14th Annual Firefighters Holiday Rescuer’s Toy Drive, Monday, December 19, 2011, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Penn Daw Fire and Rescue Station 11, 6624 Hulvey Terrace, Alexandria, Virginia.
Department members, the Progressive Firefighters of Fairfax County, Inc., and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2068, have been collecting toys, games, coats, and other items to be distributed to children throughout Fairfax County during the holiday season.
Through generous donations and support from businesses and civic organizations including Operation Warm/Coats for Kids, Deloitte Consulting, Inc., Promax Realtors, Apple Credit Union, Nationwide Creditors, and the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner, it is anticipated that several thousand school-aged children and their families will again receive holiday gifts this season.
The fire and rescue department, with support from Fairfax County Public Schools and the Department of Family Services, plan to reach a record number of children.
Firefighters and organizers will be available for interviews.
