Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Thursday, June 28, 2012, at approximately 7:55 a.m. in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 1242 Olde Towne Road, Alexandria.
Firefighters arrived on scene with heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of several second floor windows of the two-story home. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack to the second floor and attic area, bringing the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. Sounding smoke alarms are credited with waking three sleeping juveniles who all escaped. One occupant was treated at the scene, but refused hospital transport. One adult and three juveniles have been displaced. Red Cross support was declined.
Damage is estimated at $282,000.
The fire originated in the master bedroom closet, and is under investigation.
