Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at approximately 6:35 p.m., in the West Centreville area of Fairfax County. The single-family house is located at 14927 Lee Highway.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear and through the roof of the ranch home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted both an interior and exterior fire attack; however, firefighters withdrew when a portion of the roof caved. Firefighters also encountered boarded up windows while attempting to gain access to the home. It took firefighters approximately 50 minutes to bring the fire under control. The home had been vacant. There were no injuries.
The home was a complete loss.
The fire is under investigation.
