Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the Fox Mill area of Fairfax County. The single family home is located at 12383 Copenhagen Court.
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the rear of the ranch style home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack; however, a weakened and unsafe floor required firefighters to withdraw and attack the fire from a different part of the home. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 35 minutes. No one was home when the fire broke out. The homeowner arrived at the fire scene while firefighters were fighting the fire. Two adults and two children have been displaced. Red Cross support was declined. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $125,000.
The fire is under investigation. According to fire investigators, the origin of the fire was a live Christmas tree.
