Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire, Thursday, January 17, 2013, at approximately 1:10 p.m. in the Fairview area of Fairfax County. The single family home is located at 5455 Cheshire Meadows Way.
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the basement of a two-story middle unit townhouse upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes and were able to confine the fire to the single townhouse. No one was home when the fire broke out. Three adults and one child have been displaced. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupants. One firefighter received a non-life threatening injury and was transported to the Washington Hospital Burn Center.
Damage is estimated at $180,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire is under investigation.
