Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department
News Release 13-105
Date: September 30, 2013
The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will host a hands-on, all-hazards training day, Tuesday, October 29, 2013, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Fire and Rescue Academy, 4600 West Ox Road, Fairfax.
The six-hour activity will provide a real, hands-on experience of the emergency services that firefighters and paramedics provide daily to the more than one million residents in the county. Participants will participate in various demonstrations, including going into a burn building (with a flashover scenario), using rescue/extrication tools, and a live cardiac arrest scenario. Fire Chief Richie Bowers will also be on hand to welcome the participants.
Participation is limited to 15 participants, due to time and space constraints, and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. However, media organizations will be allowed to bring additional staff to view or chronicle the activities and demonstrations.
Please email Captain William Moreland at email@example.com to register as a participant. Registration will be open until close of business October 11, 2013. Participants will be contacted with additional information at a later date.
Lunch will be provided for all.
