The grand opening of Fire and Rescue Station 42, Wolftrap, is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 11 a.m., at 1315 Beulah Road, Vienna, Virginia. Chairman Sharon Bulova, Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust, Hunter Mill District Supervisor Catherine Hudgins, and County Executive Ed Long, will join Fire Chief Richie Bowers for the traditional "uncoupling of the hose" ceremony.
The station is 14,600 square feet, with four drive-through bays, and currently houses an engine with crew, and an EMS Supervisor. In July of 2014, a medic unit and tanker will be assigned to the station. The station has a first-due area of approximately 11.3 square miles. The station has achieved Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Flooring, carpet, window frames, and other materials are made of 25 percent or higher of recycled materials. Cabinetry is made from reclaimed straw products, and appliances are high efficiency Energy Star rated. The paint throughout is low VOC (volatile organic compounds) for improved air quality.
The station opened operationally for emergency response at 7 a.m. on October 1, 2013. The station is the county's 38th fire and rescue station.
Residents and the general public are cordially invited to attend. Firefighters will also provide tours of the station.
