Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Thursday, January 24, 2013, at approximately 11:45 p.m. in the Fairfax Center area of Fairfax County. The single family home is located at 4809 Village Drive.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire showing from the garage of the ranch style home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attach and brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. Fire did spread to the kitchen and rear of the home. Two adults and two youths were home when the fire broke out and smelled smoke and quickly escaped the burning home. One of the adults was transported for non-life threatening injuries to INOVA Fairfax Hospital. All of the occupants have been displaced. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupants.
Damage is estimated at $105,000.
The fire is under investigation.
