Falls Church Townhouse Basement Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire Monday, April 1, 2013, at approximately 5:10 p.m., in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County. The single family home is located at 3013 Meeting Street.
Firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from the basement and first floor of the three-story end unit townhouse upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. Firefighters conducted extensive overhaul and salvage operations throughout the basement area. The lone occupant escaped prior to firefighters arriving. The occupant was transported to a medical facility with non-life threatening injuries. The occupant has been displaced and Red Cross support is being provided.
Damage is estimated at $200,000.
The fire is under investigation.
