Arrest Made in Dumpster Fires

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged Carlos Cruz Ortiz, 20, of no fixed address, with setting several fires in dumpsters, Sunday, August 4, 2013. He was charged with Virginia Fire Code 18.2-81, burning or destroying property of more than $200, a class four felony.

Firefighters responded to seven dumpster fires over the weekend in the Kingsley Commons Townhouse Complex, 2930 Monticello Drive, in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.

Damage to dumpsters and a wooden fence is estimated at $3,000.
