Man Charged in Centreville House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Thursday, February 13, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m., in the Centreville area of Fairfax County. The house is located at 13292 Scotch Run Court. Giancarlo Deleon, 25, same address, was arrested at the scene and charged with 18.2-77 and 18.2-86, class four and five felonies. He was charged with intentionally applying an open flame to clothing that were saturated with an ignitable liquid.
Units arrived on-scene quickly, despite heavy snow and dangerous driving conditions to find a 3-story detached single family home with fire coming from the basement and spreading to a neighboring home. A second alarm were immediately requested bring over 60 Firefighters to the scene. Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior attack bringing the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. Four occupants have been displaced and are receiving Red Cross support. There were no injuries.
The damage is estimated at a $100,000. An adjacent home received $5000 in damage.
