Accidental Fire at Jefferson HS

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a structure fire Thursday, July 10, 2014, at approximately 7:20 p.m., in the Annandale area of Fairfax County. The structure, Jefferson High School, is located at 6560 Braddock Road.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the roof of the two-story school upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive coordinated exterior fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control. The fire was contained to the roof area. The school is currently undergoing major renovation. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $15,000.
A safety vest drawn into a fan motor caused the accidental fire.
