Herndon House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at approximately 10:30 p.m., in the Herndon area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 12322 Valley High Road.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-car garage attached to the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading into the home. Smoke alarms and noise inside the garage alerted the occupants. Both adult occupants escaped unharmed. Red Cross support was declined by the occupants.
Damage is estimated at $100,000. Two vehicles inside the garage were a total loss.
The fire is under investigation.
