A community Emergency Response Team (CERT) exercise for approximately 50 residents is scheduled for 8 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2008, at the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Academy. The exercise is a culmination of a standard 30-hour Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) course designed to train community residents on basic disaster response skills, including fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. The exercise will also evaluate their skills to locate, treat, and rescue victims until first responders arrive.
