Jan Willison and Sebastian Robertson to Receive Lifesaving Award

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will recognize Jan Willison and Sebastian Robertson, Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Worldgate Sport & Health, 13037 Worldgate Drive, for lifesaving actions during an emergency incident.

On Friday, January 23, 2009, at approximately 7 p.m., a 33 year-old male became unresponsive after coming off the basketball court.

Jan Willison, an off-duty Registered Nurse, and Sebastian Robertson, a gym employee, came to the assistance of the victim. Jan Willison immediately started Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), while Sebastian Robertson applied the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) on the victim and gave one defibrillator shock. At this time, fire department personnel arrived on scene and took over the advanced life support care. The victim regained a pulse and respirations, and was transported to the local hospital.  

For their exceptional resourcefulness and lifesaving actions, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will present Sebastian Robertson and Jan Willison with a Lifesaving Award.
