The Engineering Plans Review Branch reviews design and construction documents for compliance with various codes and standards including the Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC), Fire Prevention Code, and applicable sections of the Fairfax County Public Facilities Manual (PFM). In addition, staff also provides review of architectural and fire protection system plans for the Town of Herndon and site plan review for the Town of Vienna.
Customer service is provided to all developers, architects, engineers, owners, contractors, and designers submitting plans to Fairfax County, as well as the public at large who have questions about codes and standards enforced by the Office of the Fire Marshal. In addition to authoring and compiling the Fire Marshal Code Reference Package for architects, engineers, designers, and installers, the branch also maintains an online plans review inventory and turnaround time matrix for design and construction documents submitted for review.
