Section 506.1 of the Fire Prevention Code requires the installation
of an approved fire department access system (rapid entry key
box) for all buildings with the exception of single-family dwellings.

1. Key boxes must be installed at the primary fire department entrance (main entrance or entrance nearest to the fire control room).
2. Key boxes must be visible and accessible.
3. Key boxes must be installed 42 inches to 54 inches above finished grade.
4. Key boxes will be installed prior to occupancy.
Applications for either Knox Company or SupraSafe™ are available
on this web site or may be obtained from the Fire Prevention
Division's Revenue & Records Branch.
