Bob Bermingham has been the Fairfax County Gang Prevention Coordinator since March 7, 2005. Bermingham coordinates Fairfax County’s gang prevention efforts including the Coordinating Council for Gang Prevention, which encompasses community members and organizations, local businesses and governments, county agencies and youth representatives. He also leads the Fairfax County Gang Prevention Resource Team, which includes representatives from county agencies and the schools.
In collaboration with county and community organizations, Bermingham provides gang prevention and intervention training. He also offers presentations and outreach to nonprofit, community, faith-based and business groups. He serves as a member of the Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force.
Bermingham has been with Fairfax County for many years with the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court (JDRDC) and has considerable experience working with juvenile offenders. Prior to his appointment as the gang prevention coordinator, he was a probation supervisor with the JDRDC.
Bermingham holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Marymount University and a master’s degree in public administration from George Mason University.
