Restrooms Includes permanent restroom facilities which may or may not be open year-round.  Temporary facilities may also be available March-November.  Call the Public Information Office at 703-324-8702 or check the park website on availability.
Trails Trails within Fairfax County are generally multi-use trails, but the use depends on the surface of the trail.   There are natural surface trails, paved trails (both asphalt and concrete), and stonedust trails.  The County Existing Trails Map shows these surfaces, and Park Authority trail maps also indicate trail surfaces

All trails are for non-motorized use only.  More information on trail use regulations can be found by clicking here

Refer to the Park Authority's Guide to Trail Management that provides insight to the community, and guidance to Park staff, on how trails are planned, developed, managed, and maintained on Fairfax County's park land.
Fitness Trails Trails with fitness station(s).
School Age Playground Appropriate for children of average abilities from ages 5-12.
Tot Lot Appropriate for children of average abilities from ages 2-5
Both types of playground Contains both tot and school age equipment.
Picnic Tables Picnic tables are available on a first-come first-serve basis (no shelter).
Picnic Shelter Shelter is available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Campgrounds Ten and/or trailer camp sites available.
Open Play Area Area available for unscheduled activities including free play, picknicking, kites, etc.  Not for organized athletics.
Athletic Fields Park Authority athletic fields are available for use on a 'permit takes priority' basis.  To obtain a permit for field use, please contact the Department of Community and Recreation Services at 703-324-5533.  If a permit has not been issued for use of a field, the field is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Park Authortiy athletic fields are open for play from the last Saturday in March through the third Sunday in November.  However, fields may be closed due to inclement weather, maintenance, or for renovation.  To get information on field closings, please call 703-324-5264 or check the Park Authority website at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks .   Posted field closing signs take precedence over the phone line or website information.
Basketball Courts Park Authority basketball courts are available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Lighted facilities are available from the last Saturday in March through the third Sunday in November.  Basketball courts can also be used for other activities requiring a paved surface.
Tennis Courts Park Authority tennis courts are available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Reservations for court time can be made for a nominal fee at George Washington RECenter, Wakefield Park, Mason District Park, Nottoway Park, and Jefferson District Park.  Lighted facilities are available from the last Saturday in March through the third Sunday in November.  More information can be found on the Park Authority website at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks.
Sand Volleyball Courts Park Authority volleyball courts are available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Reservations can be made for a nominal fee at some facilities.   More information can be found at the Park Authority website at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks.
Gymnasium Includes indoor basketball.
Multi-purpose Room Used for rentals, classes, etc.
Historic Feature Any man-made structure standing or in ruins.
