Digital County Survey Award
The Board of Supervisors presented the Government Technology Digital County Survey Award received by Fairfax County to the Department of Information Technology.

Cynthia Almendarez
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recognized Cynthia Almendarez for saving the life of a young child and the Department of Public Safety Communications will present her with a Lifesaving Award.

Auxiliary Police Officers
The Board of Supervisors recognized Fairfax County auxiliary police officers — past and present — for more than 1 million hours of volunteer time.

Beth Jewell
The Board of Supervisors recognized Beth Jewell of West Springfield High School for receiving the National Marine Education Association 2010 Outstanding Teacher Award.

Third Annual Technology Summit
The Board of Supervisors recognized the Rotary Club of Bailey’s Crossroads for its contribution to the success of the third annual Technology Summit held at the James Lee Community Center.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The Board of Supervisors designated October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Fairfax County.

Head Start Awareness Month
The Board of Supervisors designated October as Head Start Awareness Month in Fairfax County.

VolunteerFest Day
The Board of Supervisors designated Oct. 22 as VolunteerFest Day in Fairfax County.
