The Office of Public Affairs coordinates presentations and recognitions by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors at its regular meetings; these are typically listed here the day prior to the meeting, with photos and video available following the meeting.

Chantilly High School Boys Cross Country Team
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the Chantilly High School Boys Cross Country Team for winning the 2012 Virginia championship and Sean McGorty for being the individual state champion.

Lake Braddock Secondary School Girls Cross Country Team
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the Lake Braddock Secondary School Girls Cross Country Team as the state champion and Sophie Chase for being selected as the Gatorade Virginia Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Fairfax County Helicopter Unit and K-9 Nero
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the Fairfax County Police Department Helicopter Unit, K-9 Nero and his handler, Lt. Shawn Martin, for their lifesaving efforts.

Robert E. Simon Jr, Reston Association and Community Partners
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Robert E. Simon Jr, the Reston Association and its community partners for their vision and community leadership, resulting in the selection of Reston as the “Seventh Best Community in the United States” in 2012.

Initiative for Public Art — Reston and the Reston Historic Trust
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Initiative for Public Art — Reston (IPAR) and the Reston Historic Trust for their vision and efforts to celebrate the story of community through art.

Karen Diviney

The Board of Supervisors will recognize Stephanie Abbott for her years of service on the Fairfax County Public Library Board.

Dominion Virginia Power
The Board of Supervisors will recognize Dominion Virginia Power for its donation of land to Fairfax County to enable safe pedestrian access to the Spring Hill Recreation Center and nearby trails.

Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce for its 30th anniversary.

African American History Month
The Board of Supervisors will designate February as African American History Month in Fairfax County.
