Continued- Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act

The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA)is designed to prevent the tragic and hidden hazard of drain entrapments and eviscerations in pools. The new law requires all public pools to meet new safety guidelines.

The VGBA was enacted by Congress and signed by President Bush on December 19, 2007. The law is named after the granddaughter of former U.S. Secretary of State James A. Baker, who drowned in 2002 after becoming entrapped on a spa drain.
