Direct Support Professionals
Fairfax County Celebrated September 2009 as Direct Support
Professionals Month
The Long Term Care Coordinating Council's Workforce Committee authored a summary of the 2009 Direct Support Professionals Month recognition events. During September, members of the Board of Supervisors experienced first hand the important roles direct support professionals (DSP) play in our community. The Workforce Committee worked with ten provider organizations to host a DSP recognition event in each district of the County featuring the district Supervisor and one at-large DSP recognition event featuring the Chairman of the Board. Photos and a summary of each event are included in the publication.
This new publication aims to captures the energy, enthusiasm, and dedication that DSPs bring to providing supports for their clients and their loved ones. It demonstrates the commitment by each of the Supervisors to get a first-hand understanding of the issues involved in providing long term support for adults of diverse backgrounds. The booklet also highlights the ongoing and vital public-private partnerships between the County and the hosting provider organizations to enhance the shared mission of protecting and enriching the quality of life for the people, neighborhoods and diverse communities of Fairfax County.
