Database explanation

Explanation of the DATABASE Structure and FIELDS used in
Fairfax County's Annual Stream Report
(1986 - 2002)
DATABASES:
There are two databases in the zip files:
Chemical results : CHEMXXXX.dbf where XXXX
is the year of the results
Coliform results : COLIXXXX.dbf where XXXX
is the year of the results.
FIELDS in the databases are outlined below according to database. See the Annual Stream Reports for explanation of tested parameters.

CHEMICAL DATABASES- Fields
WATERSHED - The watershed ID number as assigned by the Health Department. Watershed KEY.
STANUM - The Station Number of the sampling site within the watershed.
DATE - Date sample collected.
SAMPLENUM - Id number from the laboratory for tracking purposes.
TEMP - Water temperature of the sample at the time of collection in Fahrenheit.
DO -Dissolved Oxygen.
NO - Nitrate Nitrogen
PH - pH value of sample.
PO - Total Phosphorus
COLBY - sampling technician’s initials.
STRFLOW - Site evaluation of the stream flow by sampling technician.
BN= Below normal flow NM=Normal flow AN=Above Normal Flow. Note: this was discontinued in 1998.
WEATHER - O= Overcast C= Clear
AIRTEMP - Temperature of air in Fahrenheit
TRANSFER- no data -
COLIFORM - Fields

FCOLI - Fecal Coliform value range 99 - 6,000 f.c./100ml
TRANSFER- no data
