TextHealth Care Reform Implementation Task Force
Fairfax County's Health Care Reform Implementation Task Force envisions an integrated, effective health care delivery system that provides appropriate and affordable health care in the Fairfax community.
In November 2012, the Task Force published an Action Plan that addresses key issues related to the Affordable Care Act including the expansion of Medicaid, the establishment of a Virginia Health Insurance Exchange, and the county's safety net system. Following extensive research, the Task Force recommended strategies that cover several areas:

Background
Fairfax County's Health Care Reform Implementation Task Force
was
established on on December 2, 2010. Its purpose was to study the
provisions of the Affordable Care Act and analyze the operational
impact of the legislation's various requirements.
The Task Force was asked to recommend strategies for implementation in the Fairfax community to include policy decisions related to future structuring of safety net services; incorporating analysis of existing, revised and new health insurance coverage opportunities; and implement and operate approved and agreed upon actions.
The Task Force met for the first time in January 2011. George Mason
University's Center for
Health Policy Research and Ethics served as a consultant to the
Task Force, conducting research and synthesizing information. In
addition, staff from several Fairfax County agencies and various
community organizations contributed to the initial

Following completion of its initial objectives, the Task Force was renamed in the fall of 2012. Now called the Fairfax Community Health Collaborative, members will begin to implement, administer, and evaluate the recommended actions recommended in the coming years.
