As part of the County's employee benefits package, merit
employees are eligible for tuition assistance. If you are
eligible for County benefits such as life and health insurance,
you are eligible for one or both of the tuition assistance
programs.
The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) provides tuition
reimbursement to employees who successfully complete course
work that is:
The Language Tuition Assistance Program (LTAP) provides
tuition reimbursement to employees who successfully complete
foreign language, English (if English is not your native language),
or American Sign Language (ASL) course work that is:
How much assistance is available? Both TAP
and LTAP will reimburse one course per term up to a maximum
of three terms per fiscal year. Courses must begin during
the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). One hundred percent of
tuition, up to a current dollar limit of $1169 per course,
will be reimbursed upon successful course completion. Applications
are taken on a first applied, first reserved basis until the
fiscal year's funds are exhausted. Note: Only tuition is reimbursed.
How does the tuition assistance program work?
Once an eligible employee pays his or her tuition, he or she
may apply for tuition assistance. The funds are then reserved
for reimbursement. After the employee completes and passes
the course, reimbursement is made. Funding is reserved on
a first applied, first awarded basis.
