Fairfax County Animal Services Job Opportunities

The following job opportunities are now available with the Fairfax County Police Department's Animal Services Division. Wildlife Biologist Assistant

$13.00 - $17.00/hour, no benefits
Location: Office is located in the City of Fairfax but work locations are throughout the county.
Hours: Days and hours vary. Most work is conducted M – F but occasional weekend duty may be required. Night work is frequently required. Position begins in September.

Description: Assists the Fairfax County Wildlife Biologist and his staff with implementation of the county’s Integrated Deer Management Program.

Preferred Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management, biology, natural history or a closely related field and six months experience in wildlife management, wildlife damage control or wildlife research. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must possess or be able to acquire a valid Virginia Driver’s License. Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, statistical software, database management, GIS, GPS, ATVs and firearms would be preferable. Must be capable of performing independent field work involving walking, climbing, driving or wading in all types of weather. Ability to deal effectively with citizen inquires and questions.
