Program Assistant (Home Health Aide)

Location: Adult Daycare Centers in Fairfax County

Description:  Serves at a floater at one of the Health Department Adult Day Health Care Centers.  Meets the daily responsibilities of caring for adults with physical, and cognitive impairments.  Assists in planning, organizing and leading recreational activities as assigned by the recreation therapist.  Assists with the nutrition program by serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily.  Assists participants with toileting and provides incontinence care as needed.  Accompanies participants on community outings. Monitors participants' weight and vital signs and completes written documentation as assigned by the Center Nurse or Center Nurse Coordinator.

Preferred Qualification:  Experience working with adults with disabilities or special populations such as clients with Alzheimer's and other related dementias. Experience taking vital signs. Experience and knowledge in assisting with therapeutic recreation activities. Has a current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Additional education beyond high school in a field related to human services. Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a high school diploma or a GED.

Certifications and Licenses Required: Must achieve certification in CPR and First Aid within one year of employment. Must be able to achieve limited food handler’s certification within one year of employment. Must have a valid motor vehicle driver's license. 

Physical Requirements: Employee is required to walk, stand for long periods of time (i.e.: 1 to 2 hours), bend, sit, kneel, reach, climb stairs and participate in recreational therapy. Ability to assist with client transfers from sitting to standing and standing to sitting and lift up to 50 pounds. All duties perform with or without accommodation.

Special Requirements: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) check and a check of the Child Protective Services Registry to the satisfaction of the employer.             

Schedule: This position is may not exceed 900 hours per calendar year. Individuals in these positions are not eligible for health benefits, to earn leave or receive holiday pay. Floater staff are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Work locations and hours will vary based on staffing to ADHC participant ratio’s to ensure compliance with mandated regulations.

Psychiatrist

Public Health Nutritionist

Description:  Assesses and evaluates nutritional needs of clients.Develops, modifies, and presents normal and therapeutic diets to clients. Establishes food packages for clients. Certifies and recertifies the nutritional medical status and program service eligibility of clients, families, and groups. Provides nutritional counseling to clients. Plans and conducts nutritional training to meet client needs. Prepares monthly reports on nutrition program activities and issues.

Preferred Qualification:  Graduate course work in public health/nutrition.    

Minimum Qualifications:  Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics or a related field.

Certifications and Licenses Required:  Registration as a Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, within one year of appointment.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Behavioral Health Nurse Case Manager (Relief Nurse)

Programming includes medical and clinically managed detoxification, acupuncture, and case management and referral services. The nursing staff is responsible for clinical, medical and primary care issues.

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in nursing; plus two years of post-licensure experience as a nurse, in the specialty area of psychiatric mental health nursing, substance use disorders, intellectual disabilities, or relevant clinical specialty.

Special Requirements: Possession of a current license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
