Spring Hill Recreation Center is seeking a Preschool Program Aide who will operate under the direction of the Preschool Director to assist with the Kid’s Play for Preschoolers program and other preschool aged programs.
Kid’s Play for Preschoolers is a program established to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can develop emotionally, socially and intellectually through appropriate experiences. Children are encouraged to learn through hands-on activities and staff are expected to help children learn independence and to develop a positive self-image.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assisting the lead teachers in daily tasks, such as setting up the necessary supplies for arts and crafts or special activities; maintaining a neat, attractive, clean and orderly environment including shelves, closets, cubbies and tables; communicating with parents as necessary. Ability to temporarily take over programs while the Director is away. Works as part of a team with other staff members.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma and demonstrated early childhood experience. First Aid and CPR certifications and a negative TB test are required prior to the start date. The appointee must maintain training hours per Virginia licensing requirements. This job is contingent upon satisfactory results of a criminal background check, which will require the candidate to be fingerprinted.

Fitness Instructors provide a special service to our members. As a Fitness instructor, you are responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Provide outstanding customer service to all customers/class members
- Teaching all scheduled classes for a session or ‘drop-in” period
- Find your own substitute if needed
- Communicate to the Fitness Director in advance if any classes will be missed
- Make-Up classes canceled due to weather/unforeseen cancelations
- Maintaining equipment used in class, communicating to the Fitness Director what needs to be replaced
- Demonstrate passion for fitness and teaching
- Demonstrate ability to work with a variety of fitness levels
- Ability to provide modifications for most exercises
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be CPR/AED certified
- Must be a certified Pilates Instructor through an accredited agency

Salary: $17.85/hour, benefits eligible*
Schedule: Works afternoons and evenings, 25 hours per week, Monday thru Friday for 40 weeks, with summer, winter and spring break off. Occasional flexible work hours and full days required (teacher workdays, snow days, early releases, etc.).
Plans, prepares and carries out activities and projects for groups of elementary school-age children enrolled in an after-school program. Provides leadership and ensures the safety of the children enrolled in the center.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of two years of study and training at an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in early childhood or elementary education, nursing, recreation, or a related field plus one year of related work experience.
Special Requirements: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a TB test, a criminal background check and a check of the Child Protective Services Registry to the satisfaction of the employer.
Preferred Qualifications: Major course work in early childhood education. Experience working with groups of children. Bilingual ability in English and another language is desired.
Note: *This position may not exceed 1560 hours per calendar year. Individuals in these positions are eligible for limited employee benefits, including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage, and participation in flexible spending programs but are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay.

Aquatic Learn to Swim Instructors
Certified as a Virginia Swims swimming instructor or by a nationally recognized organization such as YMCA, American Red Cross, StarFish, or Ellis and Associates.
Aquatic Exercise Instructors
Certified as a water exercise instructor by a nationally recognized organization such as AEA, USWFA, YMCA, AAI, or WaterArt.
Instructor training for both areas is available through the Park Authority for interested candidates.
