LIBRARIAN I, part-time (6-hour or 12-hour week) |

Various Library Branches $20.31/hour Description: The libraries have an ongoing need to fill 6-hour and 12-hour part-time Librarian positions at various branches.
Position duties generally include the following: Assists patrons of all ages in finding library materials to meet their informational, educational and recreational needs. Conducts thorough reference interviews and selects appropriate print or electronic resources to meet the needs of the customer. Advises readers on leisure reading. Recommends materials to be added to the collection and weeds the collection as assigned. Keeps abreast of current trends in the library profession. Cooperates with all coworkers to create an environment that is welcoming to all members of the public. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from college with a master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school or completion of coursework towards a master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school. Virginia certification or Virginia provisional certification is required within three months of hire date. Note: These positions are exempt. Appointees are not eligible for benefits such as leave, health insurance, etc. Work schedules for 12 hour/week positions may include regular evening and weekend hours.
