Our benefits program is just one element of the total compensation package designed to attract the best talent available and ensure the welfare of our employees as they continue their record of public service. In designing our total rewards program, we seek to provide the right combination of tools to enable employees to optimize their physical, mental and financial health.
MEDICAL Options through Kaiser HMO and CIGNA OAP (Co-Pay, 90% and 80% plans). Full-time employees only pay 15% for individual or 25% for two-party or family premiums. Preventive care services are at no out-of-pocket cost to the employee.
DENTAL Comprehensive plan provided by Delta Dental of Virginia. Employees pay only 50% of premium.
VISION Included with all medical plans. Glasses and contact lenses are covered, as well as discount laser eye surgery through Davis Vision.
RETIREMENT Both pension and savings plans are available.
LIFE INSURANCE County-paid one times salary, employees can add optional/dependent life at low costs.
LONG TERM DISABILITY 60% of monthly basic earnings, up to $5,000, is available at low cost to employees.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM Through INOVA—a free, confidential counseling service available to all merit county employees and members of their immediate households.
ANNUAL LEAVE Employees earn 13 days per year immediately and up to 26 days later in their career.
SICK LEAVE Employees earn 13 days per year with unlimited accumulation.
PAID HOLIDAYS Employees receive 12.5 paid holidays per year.
PAID LEAVE For maternity/paternity, bereavement, volunteer and civil service.
EMPLOYEES' CHILD CARE CENTER Located at the Government Center complex, the Child Care Center serves children from six weeks until kindergarten age. All county employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible to enroll their age-eligible children, space permitting.
EMPLOYEE FITNESS AND WELLNESS CENTER Located at the Government Center Complex, membership is open to all employees & retirees of Fairfax County Government and FCPS.
TRANSPORTATION BENEFITS PROGRAM This program encourages the use of transit and vanpools for travel to and from work, and provides up to $120.00 per month per employee for transportation by bus, rail, or vanpool. The benefit is offered to eligible employees in the form of SmarTrip cards or SmartBenefits Vouchers.
The county also offers tuition assistance, discount programs and telework to all eligible employees.
